Family Collects Many Categories of Antique Dairy Items

Diane and Martin Brumbaugh’s collection of dairy antiques started with a simple purchase. “Some people go to the beach for fun,” says Diane Brumbaugh about she and her husband, Martin Brumbaugh. “We go to auctions.” The Brumbaughs are the third generation to live in the rambling farmhouse on a family property in Currysville, Blair County, Pennsylvania, which includes a back lot big enough to raise goats. At one time, they had prize-winning Brown Swiss cattle. Diane said their dairy collecting started when Martin went to an auction and brought a milk can home. That was the seed for their present huge milk can collection. Then, other collecting interests took root, such as Surge and DeLaval milkers and anything to do with them or dairying in general.

MU Health Care to start direct vaccine appointment scheduling

COLUMBIA - MU Health Care will start posting scheduling links on its website for COVID-19 vaccine appointments, the organization announced Monday. However, with shrinking numbers of eligible residents, mid-Missourians can now schedule direct appointments for the vaccine on the MU Health Care website. “Community members can also call (573) 771-CARE to sub directly instead of waiting for an invitation via email,” MU Health Care Executive Director of Pharmacy Brad Myers said. “It gives us community members more control to sign up for an appointment, if there s slots that are available.”

Georgia House OKs gift cards for coin-operated amusement machines

ATLANTA - Owners of convenience stores and restaurants featuring coin-operated amusement machines (COAMs) would be able to sell gift cards to players under legislation the Georgia House of Representatives passed Monday. The use of gift cards would go a long way toward cleaning up the industry by discouraging the illegal cash payouts that have long plagued COAMs, said Rep. Alan Powell, R-Hartwell, chairman of the House Regulated Industries Committee and House Bill 544’s chief sponsor. Powell’s bill, which the House passed 110-54, also includes regulations aimed at ensuring fair competition among the companies that own the machines and the retail businesses that house them, prohibiting machine owners from offering inducements to retailers to house their machines and imposing late fees when license holders fail to renew their licenses.
